Lifestyle Communities Brochure

Lifestyle Communities offer a dedicated and distinctive themed living option to our residents.  They maintain a genuine sense of community and they are supported by programs, conversations and faculty interaction centered on the member’s interest.  All the Lifestyle Communities are carefully planned and supported by University Housing staff along with the members of the community.  Since all the members share interest in their community’s theme, you can expect to build genuine relationships and life-long friends.

Floor: Student Support Services

Location: Building A, 0 Floor

Description: Student Support Services is a program within the Office of Educational Opportunity and TRIO programs.  The goal of Student Support Services floor is to provide students with the academic assistance and information that will lead towards retention and graduation.

Floor: Faculty Networking Program

Location: Building A, 1st Floor

Description: The Faculty Networking program provides an open community within the residence hall for faculty-student engagement.  Students living in this community will have the opportunity to interact with faculty through programs, informal discussions, and study sessions. 

Floor: Networking with Professionals

Location: Building A, 2nd Floor

Description: The Networking with Professionals program is designed for students who are looking to learn more about a variety of possible career fields.  Programs on this floor will prepare students to enter the workforce as well as expose them to career opportunities they may not have originally considered.

Floor: Pre-Professional Programs Floor

Location: Building A, 14th Floor

Description: The Pre-Professional Programs floor is designed for those students interested in pursuing law, medicine, or other professional programs.  Students will have the opportunity to learn more about professional programs, form study groups, and interact with other students with similar goals.  Professionals will be invited onto the floor to talk with students about their experiences.

Floor: Service Learning Community

Location: Building B, 1st Floor

Description: The Service Learning Community provides an opportunity for students interested in service learning to work with like minded students to give back to the Georgia State and Atlanta community.  Through regular service projects, students will not only help create a stronger community, but also grow as individuals and leaders.

Floor: Outdoor Adventure! Community

Location: Building B, 10th Floor

Description: The Outdoor Adventure! Community is designed to provide opportunities for interested residents to connect with nature.  Students will participate in a variety of outdoor trips.

Floor: Quiet Study Floor

Location: Building B, 12th Floor

Description: The Quiet Floor is available for residents wanting a quiet environment that allows for intense focus on academic commitments.

Floor: Living Green!

Location: Building C, 6th Floor

Description: The Living Green! Community is designed for students who have an interest in minimizing their negative impact on the environment. Areas of focus include water conservation, energy conservation, the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), and education of the Georgia State University community.

Floor: Arts and Culture in Atlanta

Location: Building C, 8th Floor

Description: The Arts and Culture in Atlanta community is designed for students who have an interest in taking advantage of the rich culture that Atlanta has to offer.  Areas of focus include music, dance, visual art, and theater - both on campus and off.  Students involved in this community will have the opportunity to showcase their own talent and bond as a community while enjoying the talent of Atlanta artists. 

Floor: Panther Leaders

Location: Building D, 1st Floor

Description: Students involved in the Panther Leaders Community will have the opportunity to explore topics of leadership, while developing their own personal definition of leadership.  Through exploration of their own ethical standards, students will determine what it means to lead with integrity.  Through hands on learning activities, participants will explore what it means to be agents of change.  No prior leadership experience is necessary!

Floor: Women in the 21st Century

Location: Building D, 5th Floor

Description: The Women in the 21st Century floor is designed for residents interested in exploring issues which affect women in the 21st century.  Residents will learn about the contributions that women make to society as well as analyze the strengths of women.  Anyone who is interested in helping to empower women and explore women’s issues is welcome to join this community.  (Open to male and female residents.)

Floor: Honors Floors

Location: Building D, 6th, 7th and 8th Floors

Georgia State University's Honors Program offers high-achieving and highly motivated students the resources to excel academically and to prepare for successful professional careers. Honors students have access to individualized advisement, small classes and seminars, priority registration, and special housing in the University Commons. The Honors Program is open to incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current Georgia State students who meet the criteria for Admission.

University Lofts Lifestyle Floors

Floor: Sophomores Achieving in Life (SAIL)

Location: Floors 12 – 14

Description:  The SAIL Community combines services, programs, and curricular and co-curricular activities which encourages a solid transition for sophomore students to achieve junior status and their future educational and career aspirations.   SAIL offers a foundation to explore the specific academic experiences and opportunities Georgia State University has to offer which addresses the needs of sophomores and provides appropriate services and programs that promotes success.  The SAIL community is offered to rising first year students who will achieve sophomore status in the coming academic year.
