Life Styles Communities
Lifestyle Communities offer a dedicated and distinctive themed living option to our residents. They maintain a genuine sense of community and they are supported by programs, conversations and faculty interaction centered on the member’s interest.
All the Lifestyle Communities are carefully planned and supported by University Housing staff along with the members of the community. Since all the members share interest in their community’s theme, you can expect to build genuine relationships and life-long friends.
Student Support Services Community
Building A – Floor 0
Student Support Services is a program within the Office of Educational Opportunity and TRIO programs. The goal of Student Support Services floor is to provide students with the academic assistance and information that will lead towards retention and graduation. This floor is open to new freshmen.

The Living Green! Community is designed for students who have an interest in minimizing their negative impact on the environment. Areas of focus include water conservation, energy conservation, the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), and education of the Georgia State University community. This floor is open to returning and new residents.

Arts and Culture Community
Building A – Floor 9
The Arts and Culture Community is designed for students who have an interest in taking advantage of all of the rich culture that Atlanta has to offer. Areas of focus include music, dance, visual art, and theater - both on campus and off. Students involved in this community will have the opportunity to showcase their own talent and bond as a community while enjoying the talent of Atlanta artists. This floor is open to returning and new residents.

Service Learning Community
Building B – Floor 1
The Service Learning Community provides an opportunity for students interested in service learning to work with like minded students to give back to the Georgia State and Atlanta community. Through regular service projects, students will not only help create a stronger community, but also grow as individuals and leaders. This floor is open to returning and new residents.

Building B – Floor 8
The Wellness Community is designed for students who are interested in their overall health and well-being. Students will participate in programs and activities surrounding issues of wellness including physical, mental, and emotional wellness. This floor is open to returning and new residents.

Faculty Mentor Community
Building C – Floor 1
The Faculty Mentor program provides an open community within the residence hall for faculty-student engagement. Students living in this community will have the opportunity to interact with faculty through programs, informal discussions, and study sessions. This floor is open to returning and new residents.

Panther Leaders Community
Building D – Floor 1
Students involved in the Panther Leaders Community will have the opportunity to explore topics of leadership, while developing their own personal definition of leadership. Through exploration of their own ethical standards, students will determine what it means to lead with integrity. Through hands on learning activities, participants will explore what it means to be agents of change. No prior leadership experience is necessary! This floor is open to returning and new residents.

Women in the 21st Century Community
Building D - 2
The Women in the 21st Century floor is designed for residents interested in exploring issues which affect women in the 21st century. Residents will learn about the contributions that women make to society as well as analyze the strengths of women. Anyone who is interested in helping to empower women and explore women’s issues is welcome to join this community. This floor is open to female or male returning and new residents.

Honors Community
Building D – Floors 5 – 8
These floors are for residents who are also scholars and honors students. Assignments to this community are made upon confirmation from the University Honors Program Office. The Honors Program is open to incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current Georgia State students who meet the criteria for Admission.

SAIL Program
Top Floors (University Lofts)
The SAIL Program is designed to combine services, programs, and curricular and co-curricular activities that foster a solid transition for sophomore students and their future educational and career aspirations. SAIL offers a foundation to explore the specific academic experiences and opportunities GA State has to offer which addresses the needs of sophomores and provide appropriate services and programs to help ensure their success as they transition from their first year as a student at Georgia State University.
The Objectives of the SAIL program is to:
- Show sophomores they are valued at Georgia State University
- Assist sophomores in making a successful transition from their first year to second year
- Enhance sophomores’ integration into the Georgia State community
- Enable sophomores to foster relationships with faculty, staff, and advisors, and peers
- Cultivate the student’s self-knowledge and confidence
- Empower sophomores to make informed and thoughtful decisions about their future
- Promote self responsibility
- Create awareness of and utilization resources for academic and personal planning and growth
- Educate faculty, staff, and parents on the unique developmental needs of sophomore students
List of SAIL Programs
1. SOAP Program (Sophomore Outdoor Adventure Program)
SOAP is an experiential education activity. This program helps students reflect on their first year and learn about themselves, develop leadership and healthy living skills, discuss and prepare for sophomore year expectations, and form lasting friendships with other students.
2. Faculty Dinner Series
This program features three Faculty Dinner Series per semester. Each dinner has a theme based upon the expertise of the faculty who is speaking, and provides an opportunity for students to connect with faculty on a more personal level and explore different areas in which they might have an interest.
3. Fireside Chats
The Fireside Chats sessions provide an opportunity for students to discuss the challenges and successes related to their Georgia State University experience. The main theme of Fireside Chats is "The ABC's of Academic Success". The sessions are informal, fun, informative and a great place to meet new friends. Representatives from a number of GA State departments are invited to share important facts about such topics as financial aid, career development, tutoring, and counseling. Additionally, alumni will be invited as guest speakers to talk about their success. Students attending the sessions will gain a wealth of knowledge and an understanding of the tools to succeed academically.
4. Panther Mystery Trip
In spring of each year sophomores will embark on a mystery bus trip, not knowing where they are going until the bus is well on its way to their destination. These mystery trips to different cities offer a fun way for students to connect with their peers and enjoy a new experience.
5. Panther SAIL of Events Game
Sophomores can choose to participate in a year-long game sponsored by various offices on campus. Throughout the academic year students must attend at least ten out of the fifteen possible events listed on their game card to be eligible for a drawing for an IPOD. The drawing will take place during finals week.
6. Panther Wellness Retreat
The Panther Wellness Retreat is a three day geared towards educations students on nutrition, exercise, master a ropes course, experience Yoga, make new friends, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and much more.
7. Panther Engagement and Leadership
Students will connect with the Office of Civic Engagement and the Office of Student Life and Leadership. The participants will help create, plan, and execute volunteer initiatives in the local community. In addition, they will have a huge participation in Leadership Conclave.
