Prospective Students

If you are a high school senior with strong academic credentials, a record of service and extracurricular activities, and a desire to make the most of your college experience, we encourage you to explore the Honors College at Georgia State University by visiting the other sections of this website. The Honors College offers special programs, facilities, and benefits for highly-motivated students throughout their college career, ranging from small seminars for incoming freshmen to post-graduate scholarship advising. Admission is limited to approximately 200 incoming freshman students each year, all of whom receive some form of merit scholarship from the university.

First Steps

The first step in the admissions process is to apply to the university; your Georgia State application will be reviewed by the Honors College and we will notify you by both letter and email if you qualify for admission to the Honors College. While there are no absolute cutoff scores for admission, the average combined SAT (math and verbal) for our 2012 freshman class was approximately 1300 and the average high school GPA (core, unweighted) was 3.8. A rigorous high school curriculum with AP or IB coursework is a plus.
