Registration & Authorization

Honors students are urged to arrange for advisement with their department or major adviser and in the Honors College regularly, to be able to take full advantage of honors offerings.  The majority of honors classes are offered at most once in an academic year, so students are urged to plan their programs of study very carefully.

Upcoming Early Registration Dates

Spring 2013 – October 23

Summer 2013 – March 5

Fall 2013 - April 2

Beginning in Summer 2012, registration procedures for Honors classes will be the same as those of non-honors classes. Simply add the course on the PAWS or GoSolar registration interface.

HOWEVER, the following Honors classes will still need to be authorized:

  • HON 1000 (Honors freshman seminar)
  • HON 3260 (Honors colloquium)
  • All sections of 3690 (Honors readings)
  • All sections of 4870 and 4880 (Honors thesis research and thesis writing)

Honors students must get authorization from the Honors College Office to be able to enroll in the above Honors courses only. You can call (404.413.5577), email honors@gsu.edu or stop by the HC Office for authorization(s).

Please provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Panther ID
  • Course and number e.g. HON 1000
  • CRN

Please do not wait until the last minute to request honors authorization as these classes will fill quickly. You can request authorization as soon as the Schedule of Classes is available on GoSolar/PAWS. The Honors College staff will authorize you for each Honors course requested.  Once authorized, you will be cleared to register for the class.  You will have two weeks to register for the class.  If you do not register, your name and authorization will be removed from the list.

If you need to make an advisement appointment with the Honors Academic Adviser, please schedule the appointment prior to registration.

Only students in good HONORS academic standing (3.3 and higher) will have priority registration privileges.
