This image is of a foreclosed home in my Atlanta neighborhood, Reynoldstown. It is a "transitional" neighborhood where on every block there is at least one boarded up home. I placed the legs in the image to symbolize the home as a burden for modern Americans after the mortgage and economic crises. My work uses text to initiate an emotional experience in the viewer by referring to subjects of popular culture. Here, "There is no place like home" refers to the Wizard of Oz, where a catastrophic event displaces the main character into a world of struggle and fear as she searches for what she loves most.... her home.
