Dining Services
Dining Services is ditching the trays in their eateries. Studies have shown that by doing so food waste can be reduced up to 30%. Benefits of this system include water and energy conservation, elimination of chemicals, detergents, and drying agents used to clean the trays, costs of purchasing and maintaining tray inventory, and a decrease in discharge into landfills, incinerators, and waste water treatment facilities.
Facilities Management Services
Building Services collects recyclable materials as part of their waste collection process. They have goals of reducing landfill waste by 5% each of the next 5 years, bringing up to $33,000 annually to the University. For recycling containers for your area email recycle@gsu.edu.
Building Services has also recently purchased eight 250-gallon water collection tanks that will capture rainwater runoff to be used for pressure washing projects and irrigation.
Parking and Transportation Services
The Parking and Transportation Services Office at GSU seeks to encourage alternative transportation and provides helpful information for individuals who wish to participate in transportation programs that address environmental concerns.
