Q & A:

Facilities would like to shine a spotlight on Elgie Ogburn for his 40 years of service at Georgia State University.  Mr. Obgurn has honored us by answering a few questions about this momentous achievement.

Q: How old were you when you started to work at GSU?

A:  I was 21 years old.

Q: You look like you are in great shape.   Has working here contributed to your great physical condition?

A:  I do a lot of walking here at the University, so you can say that has contributed some.  However, I enjoy all Sports and my grandkids keep me active.

Q: You have reached forty years of service to GSU, how would you describe the journey to this great achievement?

A:  The journey to this great achievement has been life changing.   My life has been touched by generations of individuals within the University community.  I’ve been a part of the University’s growth over the years.  I’ve seen GSU buildings evolve all over the city, witnessed the achievements of past GSU Presidents, celebrated the graduations, weddings and promotions of colleagues and their families.  I’ve grown from a young adult to a well-rounded individual with memories for a lifetime.

Q: What do you see as being your biggest accomplishment at GSU?

A:  My greatest accomplishment is having held a career with the same institution for 40 years.  I’ve served on over 180 setups for graduation at the University and have moved up from the roles of a team player to supervisor, and to manager for this unit.
