For nearly four decades, Garth Fagan-perhaps best known for his choreography in "The Lion King" and his company have been renowned for their individuality, unmannered approach, and virtuosity. One of the great reformers of American dance, Fagan's dance language draws on many sources: the sense of weight in modern dance, the torso centered movement and energy of the Afro-Caribbean tradition, the speed and precision of ballet, and the rule breaking experimentation of post-modern dance. The company's distinctive qualities come from years of training in the Fagan Technique, the teaching method Fagan developed when he started the ensemble in 1970. This performance is part of the Loridans Dance Initiative.
