Testing Requirements
Regents' Test Requirements
All undergraduates are required to pass the Regents' test before reaching 45 credit hours. It is recommended that if you do not meet exemptions, you take the test your first semester at Georgia State.
Math Placement Test
Georgia State University requires all students seeking a baccalaureate degree to satisfactorily complete a basic core curriculum of general education subjects. In Area A of the core curriculum, students are required to select a course in mathematics. For some majors, the math requirement has restricted choices (i.e. the lowest level course, Math 1101, is not accepted by some majors). A math placement test is required for all students who need or desire to enroll in a course higher than Math 1101.
If you only require Math 1101 for your major, the math placement test is not required. It is important to note that Math 1101 is a standalone course and is not a prerequisite for Math 1111 or higher. For majors that require Math 1111, 1113, or higher, the test is mandatory. It is recommended that the Math Placement Test be taken before attending INCEPT. There is no fee to take the test the first time. To determine if a major requires the math placement test, see below.
