Director of Admissions
Georgia State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Admissions. We seek an energetic, experienced person to lead our Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Georgia State University
As the premier urban research university in the Southeast, Georgia State University is a member of the University System of Georgia (USG). As one of the USG’s four research institutions, Georgia State leads as well as serves, advancing a mission that begins at home in the heart of downtown Atlanta and spans the globe.
Nine decades strong, we are committed to providing first-rate graduate and undergraduate education, fostering cutting-edge research, and promoting a culture of public service and global citizenship.
With a 2007 enrollment of more than 27,000 students in six colleges, we are Georgia’s second largest university, attracting students from every county in the state, every state in the nation and over 159 countries. During FY 2007, we received more than 850 grants and contracts totaling more than $60 million. We offer 52 graduate and undergrad degrees in 250+ fields of study and support dozens of specialized research centers, consortia and institutes that engage in progressive research, instruction and service.
Every day, Georgia State contributes more than $7 million to Georgia’s economy, and this number will only rise – along with enrollment figures, student housing units and research funding – largely as a result of the university’s renowned Main Street Master Plan. This plan, implemented in 1997 under the leadership of President Carl V. Patton, has added two new residence halls, a renovated performing arts theater, a new state-of-the-art student recreation center, a new student center and a new classroom building. Phase II of the Master Plan, now underway, earmarks $1 billion for a science park, a humanities building, a business and law education center and more on-campus housing.
Atlanta’s quality of life – with its temperate weather, reasonable cost of living, thriving arts community, vibrant sports scene and brisk business environment – has attracted more new residents than any other metro area in the nation. And now more than ever, the transformative impact of Georgia State’s educational mission, economic presence and pioneering vision enhances Atlanta’s appeal as a great place to live, work and play.
