Where are the most current Board of Regents' Policies on Georgia resident status located?

The most current policies are available online on the Board of Regents' Policies  webpage.

What are the durational requirements for Georgia resident status for tuition and fee payment purposes?

It will take approximately twelve months to establish Georgia resident status.  There are exceptions for spouses and children of Georgia residents, as well as persons who are transferred to Georgia by their employers.  There are also waivers wich may apply.

What are the waivers offered by the Board of Regents?

If I have been classified as a non-resident or my status is in question, and I wish to apply for resident status, what should I do?

You should download the Residency Petition.  The petition will have instructions, deadlines and a list of the required doucments to apply for Georgia resident status.

How long does it take for a petition to be processed?

It will take approximately four weeks.  However, during peak residency petition periods, it may take up to six weeks for a decision to be made on a completed petition with all requisite documents.

I have already submitted a petition, how do I find out about the progress?

Communication about the progress on petitions is usually sent via email.  If you have not heard anything within the four-week window, e-mail the the One Stop Shop.  Use PETITION INQUIRY as your subject header in the message.

My questions about residency and waivers have not been answered here. How do I find out more?
