Receiving Law Student Aid

About Your Award Offer

The award amount of your financial aid is based on your enrollment status, classification (undergraduate or graduate), residency, housing arrangements and outside aid received (GRA, scholarships, etc.). Notify the Office of Student Financial Aid of any corrections or changes to this information to prevent incorrect disbursements of your aid.

If you do not accept all or part of the awards within 15 days from the date of your award letter, all awards will be canceled for the entire year.

Your award can be canceled or reduced if circumstances occur which require such action.

If you are awarded a William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan that you wish to accept, you must accept our award at the Office of Student Financial Aid. Students who borrow Federal Direct Student Loans are required to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) online at http://dlenote.ed.gov. In order to complete a MPN you will need your Personal Identification Number (PIN) that you used to electronically sign your FAFSA and two references with two different U.S. addresses. If you do not have your PIN, you will need to request one at http://www.pin.ed.gov. We will receive confirmation that you completed the MPN within 24 - 48 hours.

Starting Fall Semester 2005 funds exceeding your institutional cost (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) will be mailed or directly deposited into your bank account during the second week of classes, after drop/add registration.

If you have financial aid or other funds available it will show on your GoSolar account. If the amount of assistance exceeds your institutional charges, a refund will be processed after the end of the drop/add period. This delay could cause a hardship for some students purchasing books and supplies. A line of credit will be sent to the Georgia State Bookstore that will allow you to charge books and supplies if you have a pending refund. The amount will be based on what you have available up to $500 ($750 for law students).

You will be notified by email when a credit is available in the bookstore.
