The B.S. in Mathematics prepares a student for positions in business, industry, and government; a career in the teaching of mathematics at the secondary level; or further study in mathematics or statistics leading to graduate degrees. The M.A.S. educates students in the theory and practice of actuarial science, which employs mathematics and statistics in modeling the financial impacts of risk and uncertainty in various sectors of the economy, and in designing solutions of managing risks. BA/JD
Honors students who plan to go to law school are eligible to apply to the dual BA/JD program offered by the Honors College and the GSU College of Law. In brief, this program will enable eligible and highly-motivated students to complete the Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees in six years rather than seven by satisfying the last year of the undergraduate program while attending their first year at GSU’s highly-ranked College of Law. BBA/MSISAC
Academically outstanding students have the opportunity to complete both a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a Master of Science in Information Systems Audit and Control in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University in approximately one year less than it would take if the degrees were pursued consecutively. This program is a joint endeavor of the School of Accountancy and the Department of Computer Information Systems in the Robinson College of Business. BS in Physics/MAT in Science Education
In partnership with the Department of Middle-Secondary Education and Instructional Technology (MSIT) in the College of Education, the Department of Physics and Astronomy offers the BS Physics / MAT Science Education option. This program allows completion of both degrees and teacher certification requirements in approximately 5 years. BS (Georgia Tech)/MAT (Georgia State)
The Department of Middle-Secondary Education and Instructional Technology (MSIT) has established an opportunity for students at the Georgia Institute of Technology to complete a BS degree at Georgia Tech and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Georgia State. This program allows academically outstanding Georgia Tech students who plan to become teachers certified in grades 6-12 or 4-8 to apply six hours of graduate credit to both their BS degree at Georgia Tech and their MAT degree at Georgia State.
