GSU Receives National Award for Institutional Excellence

(L - R) Linda J. Nelson, Dr. Mark Becker and Dr. Risa Palm accept the award for Institutional Excellence.

The NADOHE award for Institutional Excellence was awarded to Georgia State University. Georgia State University is committed to providing the highest quality of education in an inclusive campus environment. In addition to the passage of our first university vetted Diversity Strategic Plan (hailed as a milestone not only for the university, but for the University System of Georgia), the development of programs such as the Latino Leadership Pipeline and the Coca-Cola First Generations Scholars Program, has demonstrated through several transformative campus-wide initiatives that they are well poised to sustain diversity efforts within our campus community.

It's Who We Are

OUR MISSION AND GOALS

The mission of the Office of Diversity Education Planning is to engage students, faculty, staff as well as the Atlanta metropolitan community in the educational process of developing, implementing and assessing programs and projects related to the scope of diversity.

A DIVERSE CAMPUS CULTURE

It's who we are and what we value

Georgia State University is just naturally diverse. We're right in the heart of Atlanta, an international city that's been recognized as a mecca of opportunity for people from all over the nation and the world. But that doesn't mean we take our diversity for granted. As President Mark Becker said in his recent State of the University address: "We must become a national model for diversity in higher education, where all combinations of gender, race and ethnicity succeed at higher rates."

GSU's Diversity Strategic Planning is an ongoing, inclusive process that engages, assesses and manages its constituents at workplace, workforce and student levels. Please visit the Diversity Strategic Plan website for more information.
