Testing Accommodations on Web CT Exams

The purpose of this page is to provide instructors with answers to Frequently Asked Questions about extra time on uLearn exams for students who have a disability.

How Do I Know the Student Needs Extra Time?

Please check the Letter of Accommodation provided to you by the student. Extended testing time is listed on the Letter of Accommodation. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the Letter of Accommodation to their instructor in advance.

How Much Extra Time is Reasonable?

The general rule is to allow double time. However, some students qualify for time and a half, and some students qualify for extended time only in certain situations. For example, a student who has a learning disability in math will not qualify for extended time on an essay exam.

How Do I Know How Much Time to Give the Student?

Please refer to the Letter of Accommodation. A specific stipulation will appear if the student only qualifies for time and a half, or only qualifies for extended time in certain subjects.

How Do I Adjust the Time on my Web CT Tests?

Try having two copies of the exam available on uLearn, with one copy running for a longer duration. The copy with extended time will be available only to the student who has a disability; often this is done by connecting the exam to the student’s individual log in.

Who Can Help Me Accomplish This?

If an instructor has any problems or questions regarding how to create this type of timing scenario, they can contact uLearn on campus by e-mailing the Help Center at help@gsu.edu or calling (404) 413-4357.

Please refer to the Web CT Office directly at help@gsu.edu with questions about accommodations for test timing.
