Past Keynote Speakers

One of the highlights of each Cultural Competency Conference is the evening keynote address.  This is not only an opportunity for the conference attendees to hear from a noted individual in a particular field, but an opportunity for the GSU community as well.  This event affords students, faculty, and staff, a venue in which to come together with conferees and to participate in an engaging dialogue.  This event supports the ultimate goal of the conference - to expand cultural discussions and promote the growth of individual and community cultural competence.

The process for selecting the keynote speaker is a collaborative one in which the entire Counseling & Testing Center staff works to identify an individual who embodies the conference theme for that particular year.  Past keynote speakers have included Derald Wing Sue, Maya Angelou, Elie Wiesel, Alice Walker whose biographies are included on this site.

This year we are very excited to have Deepak Chopra as our featured guest keynote.  As you will see from his biography, Deepak Chopra's work and mission supports our conference theme of "We are all connected: Claiming our identity as global citizens, healers, and educators."
