Ambassadors
Ambassadors are faculty leaders chosen by department chairs to represent their respective degree majors in the process of implementing the Critical Thinking through Writing graduation requirement into each major curriculum. For information about the Ambassadors, click one of the links below:

Ambassadors Roles and Responsibilities
The following points reflect an overview of the Ambassador's role and responsibilities:
- Attend University-level Workshops offered by CTW coordinators.
- With input of department &/or chair, identify courses to be designated CTW and assure that CTW component of course is identified in all syllabi and in the CTW assignments.
- If assigned by department chair, submit course materials for CTW approval through the General Education Sub-committee approval process.
- With input & consultation with department chair, identify instructors teaching CTW courses.
- With input from department and/or chair, develop an assessment and reporting plan for CTW initiative.
- With input from department and/or chair, assure that a person responsible for assessment of CTW is identified.
- With input from department and/or chair, prepare faculty for CTW instruction and assessment.
- Assure that department plan specifies how the CTW component will be assessed and reported.
- With input from chair, assure that the course is taught.
- Assure that the faculty assess the CTW courses and develop an action plan.
The following responsibilities may be completed by the Ambassador or may be assigned to someone else in the Ambassador's department:
- Provide feedback to the University regarding the practice of CTW in department/majors.
- Prepare annual CTW report (including the requested assessment information) and submit it to General Education Sub-committee.
Additional Roles Related to CTW
Responsibilities of the Department Chairs
- identify department ambassador(s): 1 per major required
- with input of department &/or ambassador(s), identify courses to be designated CTW
- with input of department &/or ambassador(s), identify instructors teaching CTW courses
- assure that CTW component is identified in all syllabi and assignments are specified
- assure that a person responsible for assessment of CTW is identified
- assure that plan for assessment of CTW-designated courses is developed
- if required, assure that CTW course materials are submitted for approval through Curriculum Approval Process at department & college levels
- assure that CTW-designated courses and department assessment plan is submitted to General Education Sub-committee, University Sentate's Committee on Academic Programs
- assure that University Catalog 2009-2010 contains information on CTW courses
- assure that the CTW courses are offered and faculty prepared for full implementation in Fall 2009
Responsibilities of CTW-designated Instructors
- receive preparation through department/major's CTW Ambassador
- with input from Ambassador, specify CTW component in all syllabi and assignments
- with input from Ambassador, specify how CTW component will be assessed and reported
- teach CTW course
- assess student learning outcomes related to CTW (if assigned)
- provide data on assessment of CTW learning outcomes (if assigned)
CTW Ambassador's To Do List
The following list should be completed by the Ambassador.
1. Submit a draft CTW Plan using the on-line template at: www.gsu.edu/ctw (due by Oct 26, 2007)
2. Attend one of these three follow up workshops. We will discuss the draft CTW plans that were submitted on Oct 26th. Workshops will be held Nov 5, 2007 (1-4 pm), Nov 8, 2007 (9-12 am), and Nov 9, 2007 (9-12 am).
3. Submit your major's proposed CTW plan(s) to General Education Sub-committee using the on-line template at: www.gsu.edu/ctw (due by Dec 14, 2007)
The following list should be completed by the Ambassador in consultation with the department chair.
1. Submit any CTW required curriculum changes to your college's curriculum process for review (in consultation with your department chair). This may not be required in all colleges. (Due by Jan. 15, 2008, but check with your college for more specific deadlines.)
2. Submit any necessary catalog changes for the 09-10 University Catalog. (Due by Oct. 15, 2008.)
3. Prepare instructors to ensure that you have enough CTW-trained faculty to cover the CTW courses offered in Fall 09. (Should be completed by Fall 08-Spr 09.)
4. Offer enough CTW courses so that your undergraduate students can meet the CTW graduation requirement. (The number of sections required will likely start small and then grow. This should begin by Fall 09.)
