Drop-In Services

Please note: all CTL services are strictly confidential.

Graduate Teaching Assistants are encouraged to take advantage of drop-in services any Wednesday from 9am to 1pm.  No appointment is necessary.  Come to the Center to share concerns you have about any aspect of your teaching.

Topics in College Teaching Series

The Topics in College Teaching Series is a forum for sharing pedagogical insights, experiences, concerns, and questions.  It is also an opportunity to meet with and learn from graduate teaching assistants from across the University.  These sessions are not workshops; there are no formal presentations.  The intent is to promote an intellectually vibrant conversation in a relaxed and informal setting.

The September session is "Preparing and Using the Syllabus".  It will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 11:30am.  All sessions are held in the Center for Teaching and Learning.  Reserve your seat by registering here.  First time users must enter their campus ID and password before registering.

Group Instructional Feedback Technique

About Mid-semester, we feel its a good time to take the pulse of a class. We offer you Group Instructional Feedback Technique (GIFT) session.  A representative from CTL visits you classroom and, in your absence, facilitates a 20-30 minute discussion with your students about the class.  The highlights of that discussion are then reported to you.  To schedule a G.I.F.T. session, email CTL@langate.gsu.edu

Spring 2009 GTA Pedagogy Conference

Each Spring the Center for Teaching and Learning sponsors a conference for GTAs.  This conference focuses on both pedagogical and professional development and provides an excellent opportunity to gain conference experience.  Participants share best teaching practices and attend workshops on topics ranging from vita writing to mastering the job interview.  All GTAs are encouraged to attend and/or present.

The one-day conference includes a keynote speaker, symposia, round table discussions, and paper and poster presentations with sessions running concurrently.  A call for proposals goes out early in the fall semester, and presenters are notified before the end of fall semester.

GTAs should register with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL@langate.gsu.edu) with your name and contact information to receive the call for proposals and all information about this conference.
