Safe Zone
The Georgia State University Counseling Center is a designated Safe Zone and most of our staff members are trained as Safe Zone State Allies. One of the hallmarks of Safe Zone State is the public identification of Allies, symbolized by placing the Safe Zone State logo on office doors of faculty and staff and in areas frequented by students on campus. The mission of Safe Zone State is to create a safer environment for LGBTQIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, questioning) individuals by reducing homophobia and heterosexism at Georgia State University. Safe Zone State provides education, training, and support on LGBTQIQ issues in order to increase knowledge of the diversity of sexual and gender identity.
