Welcome to the Georgia State University Counseling & Testing Center, a service unit of the Division of Student Affairs. My hope is that you will find on this site the information you need to access a wealth of resources that will support you in your pursuit of health and academic success while you are enrolled at Georgia State University. Our goal is to provide high quality, accessible services that meet the needs of our diverse student population at Georgia State. With that goal in mind, the resources available to students at the Counseling & Testing Center include: short-term individual & couples counseling, unlimited group counseling, crisis intervention and consultation services for students on a walk-in basis, medication management by our psychiatrists, nutrition consultation, stress management consultation and the use of our relaxation room, massage chair and biofeedback equipment, as well as a range of workshops and guest lectures for our campus community. In addition, our professional Testing staff provides a wide range of testing services to students, faculty, staff and the Greater Atlanta Community. These services include scanning and scoring tests for faculty, online (internet-based) testing for distance learning students, math placement testing, the MAT, CLEP, DSST, GRE, ACT, SAT, MCAT, LSAT, PRAXIS II, NET, CFA, and approximately 50 additional admissions tests and professional certification exams.
I encourage you to use our services and allow us to assist you as you work hard to reach your educational and personal goals. For most students, counseling is not the first option when facing a stressor; students may more naturally rely on friends, family, spiritual resources, exercise, music, or other familiar problem solving and stress relief techniques. These resources work most of the time for many of us, however, there are times when having a professional confidential consultation can be extremely useful. As a Georgia State alumna, I am familiar with the challenges faced by our student body as well as the resilience and determination that characterizes the Georgia State spirit. I welcome you to use the wealth of resources available to you to support you in your success at the university as well as in your growth as a person.
