Commencement

Diplomas

Diplomas are not awarded at commencement. The Commencement Office will mail your diploma to you when your degree requirements have been certified, and when you have been placed on the Final Graduates List. This takes four to six weeks after the official date of degree conferral. All financial obligations to the university must be cleared before it can be mailed.

Your diploma will be mailed to your mailing address of record in PAWS.

Your legal name on record at Georgia State University will be the name printed on your diploma. If you have had a legal change of name, you must visit the One Stop Shop (Second floor of Sparks Hall) with proof (Marriage license, Divorce Decree, etc.).  Submit any name changes to the Registrar's Office (One Stop Shop) by the semester midpoint. Candidates for graduation may check the Tentative Graduates list. This list will be posted online by the midpoint of each semester or you can view the hard-copy list posted just to the left of Room 224 Sparks Hall.

Mailing address changes should be made in PAWS prior to commencement to ensure your diploma will be mailed to the correct location.
