Chinese New Year Celebration Party

With an annual enrollment of more than 300 students in the Chinese courses and a newly established Confucius Institute student group, the Student Confucius Institute Association of Atlanta (SCIAA), GSU boasts of a sizable student population that has a considerable interest in Chinese language and culture. To further stimulate this interest, the Confucius Institute is teaming up with the Chinese Program in the Dept. of Modern and Classical Languages to organize a Chinese New Year Celebration for the students and faculty at GSU on Friday, February 22. The three-hour program will feature an introduction to the culture and customs associated with the Chinese New Year, a knowledge contest, games, poster contest, dumpling making and tasting, door prizes, and a demonstration of calligraphy, paper cutting, and mahjong.  Participating in this event will be the Chinese Student Union, the Hongkong Student Association, the Student Confucius Institute Association of Atlanta, and students enrolled in both credit and non-credit Chinese courses at GSU. All students and faculty are invited to join the celebration.
