On February 8, 2013, the eve of the Chinese New Year, the Confucius Institute, for the third year in a row, teamed up with World Trade Center Atlanta to host a special seminar on doing business with China and a reception for the Chinese New Year. Titled “Safe Landings in Stormy Weather: Doing Business with China in the Challenging Economy,” this special seminar attracted nearly 150 people from the local business community, including representatives from many small to medium businesses. The panel of speakers included experts on commercial real estate, trade finance and banking, legal affairs, intellectual property, logistics, business culture, etc. Among the featured speakers were John Parkerson, the President of WTC Atlanta, Adam Feinberg, VP of International Sales at UPS, Rick Woroniecki, VP of International Brokerage at Ackerman, and Baotong Gu, Director of the Confucius Institute at GSU.
