Cover Letter

Why write a cover letter? A cover letter is used to communicate your qualifications to potential employers. The job search process involves your ability to write and speak effectively. A cover letter introduces you to the reader and tells the reader why you are sending your résumé. It also states what position you are interested in. Most importantly, the cover letter gives you an opportunity to sell yourself.

UCS provides Job Search workshops, website addresses and other job search information, including material on cover letters. Schedules are available on the second floor of Alumni Hall, and at the University Center Information Desk on the third floor.
