Are you a GSU Alumni and employer? Consider hiring GSU students and alumni! At little or no cost*, we can help you recruit for the following opportunities:
- Part-time positions (great for currently enrolled students)
- Full-time positions
We are also looking for great job shadowing sites. Job shadowing allows a student to spend a day seeing “the action” at your work place – giving the student a more accurate picture of what a profession is about. Let us know if you are interested in assisting with this effort.
Looking to set up an internship program? We consult with area businesses and non-profits to develop strong internship programs that prepare tomorrow’s workforce.
*There is a fee for recruiting at our career showcases or fairs. For other on-campus recruiting events, there is no fee, including information sessions, on-campus interviewing, and classroom presentations. We even do the campus marketing for you!
For any Alumni Hiring GSU questions, please contact Ramona Simien, Assistant Director of Employer Relations, at (404) 413-1820.
Who is eligible to enroll in Alumni Career Services at GSU?
This program is only for GSU Alumni who have completed a GSU program of study and have earned a certificate or degree from GSU. Verification of Alumni status is required for enrollment, hence the Inquiry Form.
I graduated from GSU 7 months ago. Do I have to pay the $75 fee to use Alumni Career Services?
No. You are eligible to receive services up to one year past your recent GSU graduation date, at no cost. You do want to enroll in the program, however, as we will provide you with special event notifications and such.. When the one year passed, you must pay the fee.
Do I have to be enrolled in the Alumni Association to enroll in the Alumni Career Services program?
No. Alumni are only required to have completed a course of study at GSU and earn a degree or certificate. This will be verified at time of processing your Tier I or Tier II enrollment. This is why completing the Inquiry Form is important; we use the submitted information to verify status.
If Alumni Career Services isn’t part of the Alumni Association, how is it connected to GSU?
The Alumni Career Services program is administered by University Career Services, a department of the Division of Student Affairs at GSU. University Career Services serves prospective students, enrolled students, and alumni.
How do I get access to Panther Career Net (online job board)?
Tier II services will grant you full access to search and apply for job postings on Panther Career Net.
Do you have a package plan for family?
No. The Alumni Career Services program is only for GSU Alumni and does not include services for family. University Career Services does offer a separate Prospective Student Career Services program for individuals considering GSU as their choice of educational institution. Contact UCS for more information: (404) 413-1820.
Can I pay for my membership over the phone?
No. At this time, we are only accepting payments via personal check, cash or credit card after your completed course of study has been verified.
Can I switch from Tier I to Tier II during the year?
Yes. If you switch, you will need to remit the $75 fee and then your enrollment date will be reset to the date when we process your fee. We will issue you a new Alumni Career Services card that provides access to Tier II services.
What are the hours of Alumni Career Services?
The hours for the program are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Some special events may occur outside of these hours and are always published. UCS is currently not able to provide “after hours” appointments, beyond 5:15 p.m.
I live far from Georgia State University. Can I use the service?
Alumni Career Services is initially only available for GSU Alumni who can personally visit University Career Services, which is located on the 2nd Floor of the University Center, Room 260, at Georgia State University. Distance services would be for Tier II users, after the initial visit.
How many times can I have an individualized career counseling session?
If you choose Tier II services, the sessions are unlimited, but typically scheduled at most once a week. Session duration may be less frequent (once a month, or simply several meetings); this is something you will discuss with the staff member assisting you. Tier II services are available during the year of Tier II activation only. Tier II can be renewed. If you choose Tier I services, you will not have access to individualized services.
Are there any individual charges for specific services?
No. All services in each Tier are a complete package.
What are the limits of service?
- University Career Services (UCS), while desiring to provide services to all GSU Alumni, may only be able to provide limited services and resources for some requests. This has to do with UCS not being able to offer specialized services for some academic areas. In such cases, UCS will provide referrals as needed and will discuss our service limitation in advance to registering for services, based on information provided on the Inquiry Form .
