School Representatives
Registration for the Georgia State University Graduate and Professional School Fair is now open. The Fair is being held on Monday, October 15, 2012 and is open to all Georgia State University students.

Time: Noon-3 p.m.
Location: Student Center Ballroom (Specific directions will follow after registration)

Regular: $150.00
Late: (after September 24) $175.00

Students
Grad Fair Pointers:
Graduate school representatives want to meet and recruit potential students for their programs. Some of the fair participants are recruiting for one program while others represent all of the graduate programs at their institution. If it is recommended that you visit their web site for additional information, don’t be disappointed.
Your task in attending the grad fair is to investigate or identify programs in your interest area, gather program specific information, and possibly develop or extend your network. More research after the fair will be required in order to make an informed decision and begin the application process.
Make the Graduate and Professional School Fair a learning experience!
• Make a prioritized list of the schools that are most important to you and visit them first.
• Introduce yourself with a firm handshake, looking directly at the representative.
• Have a 30 second introduction that tells who you are, your area of study or interest and end it with a question. Remember to smile.
• Don’t take too much time with the representative. Be specific in your questions.
• Be open to different kinds of institutions and programs. Don’t focus on just one school thinking they are the only choice for you.
• If only gathering information, let the representative know.
• Pick-up relevant materials, brochures and business cards.
• After the fair, follow-up with contacts.
Things you can learn from the school representatives:
• Specifics about the programs, faculty and the institutions overall
• Admission requirements, application process and deadlines
• Program costs and types of financial aid available
• Student life information such as housing, campus services, diversity, student orgs
The school representatives may want to know the following about you:
• When you plan to attend graduate school
• Why you want a graduate degree
• Why their program or institution
• Your preparation or experience in your area of interest
Remember the grad fair is not only a recruiting event, but also a learning opportunity. Use what you learn to take your graduate school planning to the next step.
