A leading research university in Atlanta, Georgia

Sarah Cappuccitti

Class of: 2012
Hometown and High School: Toronto, Ontario; Milton High School
Major/Minor: Journalism/Public Relations

I chose to attend Georgia State University because I didn’t want a traditional college atmosphere. I was looking to be able to explore my surroundings in the city while I received my education. I was also drawn to the business school, but that changed once I changed my major.

Campus Activities and Organizations: Georgia State University Crew in 2009 and GSU basketball cheerleader. Also a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.

Most Memorable Georgia State Experience: My most memorable moment at Georgia State had to be the first day I walked into Library Plaza and saw just how vivacious the campus actually is. I was so surprised that a campus in the middle of the city could have such a presence of its own that can, at times, trump that of the city itself.

If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would be Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls, because I am small but mighty and because I have two small best friends that are also energetic and vivacious. We legitimately believe that we embody each individual characteristic of the Powerpuff Girls.

Favorite Georgia State Tradition: I enjoy the carnivals that Georgia State puts on in the Fall. I am a sucker for wax hands and cotton candy in between classes.

What advice would you give to incoming students? Don’t be nervous and get involved! Being in the city can be a bit intimidating at first, but Georgia State provides so many different opportunities for its students. It won’t take long for you to establish yourself within the Georgia State community and the best way to accomplish that is to get involved in the many clubs and organizations offered on campus. I guarantee you will have a much more fulfilling college experience by doing so.

After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to be successful in whatever I choose to pursue as my career.
