I chose to attend Georgia State University because it stood out and was away from the norm. When looking for the perfect school I wanted to be sure I would have the chance to be involved with opportunities on and off campus, and surrounded by a diverse student body as well as cuisine, while still being close to home.
Campus Activities and Organizations: National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Softer Touch, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
Most Memorable Georgia State experience: Winning People’s Choice and Best Talent in the 2012 Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant for the Zeta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. This was a great opportunity for me to grow as a young lady and burst out of my shell and show myself as well as others, my true colors.
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would be Lola Bunny from the movie Space Jam because she is really down to earth and relatable amongst her friends. Lola is just like “one of the guys” but at the same time cute and fun while keeping her girly side.
Favorite Georgia State tradition: I absolutely love the annual step show held in the spring where members of various Greek fraternities and sororities get to showcase their stepping. It’s an amazing experience to witness every year!
What advice would you give to incoming students? Get involved! Georgia State is such a diverse university; it is truly the world in one city. I am a firm believer that there is a place for everyone here. The day you open your mind and mouth to find your niche on campus, is the day you will never regret. You are able to find other students that share the same activities, dreams, goals, etc. while still remaining your true self.
After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to attend medical school and become a Pediatrician living in South America for several years, as well as open a facility for homeless youth here in Atlanta.
