Class of: 2013
Hometown; High School: Greenville, GA; Greenville High School
Major: International Studies
I chose to attend Georgia State University because of its location in the heart of downtown Atlanta, its diverse student body, and because of the ability of such a large school to cater to students’ needs for one-on-one academic support.
Campus Activities and Organizations: SI (Supplemental Instruction) Leader, Pantherettes Dance Team (2010-2011 Season), FLC Mentor and FLC Ambassador (summer and fall of 2010)
Most Memorable Georgia State experience: My entire freshman year was a memorable experience: new school, new freedoms, and new people.
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would be Violet from The Incredibles because she could turn invisible and create force fields. She was also able to overcome her feelings of shyness and being a misfit through family bonds.
Favorite Georgia State tradition: Freshman Convocation. It marks the beginning of every first-year student’s career at State and leaves them with a time to remember before graduation.
What advice would you give to incoming students? Start out strong! I often try to learn through the experiences of others and I’ve seen that if you start out doing poorly then you will most likely end up that way. It is much better to learn in the beginning.
After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to find a job with the federal government and work in improving foreign relations.
