A leading research university in Atlanta, Georgia

Brandon Savransky

Class of: 2014
Hometown; High School: Marietta, GA; Pope High School
Major: Exercise Science

I chose to attend Georgia State University because I was looking to stay in-state to focus on my undergraduate degree, while living close to home to continue attending my regular doctor’s appointments. I was also interested in living in downtown Atlanta and having a different experience from everyone I knew.

Campus Activities and Organizations: Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Hillel, Incept Team 2011 and Intramurals.

Most Memorable Georgia State experience: My most memorable Georgia State experience was when I was selected for the 2011 Incept New Student Orientation Leader. After going through several months of interviews and days of waiting, I was ecstatic when I received a call and was told I was on the team. It was especially exciting because I was a freshman and I had begun to make my mark on Georgia State University.

If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would be Peter Pan.  He is carefree and doesn't let things worry him. He is also a kid at heart but a leader among the Lost Boys. I try to make the best of any situation and live my life to the fullest and as Peter Pan says, "To live will be an awfully big adventure."

Favorite Georgia State tradition: Rubbing Pounce's nose on the bronze statue in Unity Plaza. I started my Georgia State career with a rub on his nose and every semester after, and have had an amazing college experience.

What advice would you give to incoming students? Get involved and start building a network to make an incredible college experience.

After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to travel and then go to graduate school for Physical Therapy.
