I chose to attend Georgia State University because I wanted to be in the city with other students who have big plans for their life. The lights, energy and overall atmosphere of Georgia State’s urban campus creates an environment that encourages students to pursue their own goals.

Campus Activities and Organizations: Emerging Leaders Freshman Learning Community, Student Government Association Election Commission, Incept 2011 – New Student Orientation Leader, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Student Alumni Association Board of Directors – Campus Traditions Committee, and Student Recreation Center employee.

Most Memorable Georgia State experience: After our winter break, I was returning from my parent’s house back to Freshman Hall. I was beginning to feel a little homesick until I crossed the street and started running into my friends that I hadn’t seen over the break. That’s when I realized Georgia State was home too.

If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? After spending years watching Winnie the Pooh when I was little, I would definitely be Pooh Bear. He always stumbles into adventures he hasn’t been expecting, and he maintains a simple attitude towards life; surround yourself with who/what you love. Plus we share the regular hankering for something sweet to eat.

Favorite Georgia State tradition: I love rubbing Pounce's nose for good luck. After spending a summer doing new student orientation, I saw thousands of students rub his nose!

What advice would you give to incoming students? Get involved. You don't want to spend thousands of dollars at a university and not feel any connection to it after you graduate. Joining organizations helps network with those in your field and create new friendships with people you wouldn’t have met otherwise.

After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to attend graduate school to be a clinical psychologist and one day open my own practice!
