Event Description:
Georgia State University’s College of Education and the Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity will co-host a town hall meeting entitled, “Dyslexia and the Achievement Gap: A Civil Rights Issue for Our Time,” on Oct. 1 at the Rialto Center for the Arts (80 Forsyth St. N.W., Atlanta).

The town hall will feature Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, co-directors of The Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity, and a panel discussion moderated by DeMarco Morgan, evening news anchor at 11 Alive TV. Panelists include Vicky Axam, a parent advocate; Gena Calloway, head of school at The Schenck School; Jeff Johnson, Washington, D.C.-based, award-winning journalist and political commentator; and Julie A. Washington, professor at Georgia State University.

The town hall will begin at 7:30 p.m., with a meet and greet reception beginning at 6 p.m.
