Next Steps for Accepted Transfer Students

1.  Find your Campus ID at https://campusid.gsu.edu/index.cfm
Use Don't Know your Campus ID, and then Activate your CampusID to get started. Your Panther ID is the nine-digit number located on your acceptance letter.

2.  Set up your Georgia State e-mail account. Set this up right away to make sure you're on track. Remember that Georgia State will send all important e-mails to your Georgia State e-mail address. Start using the new PAWS web portal to access your student records on the One Stop Shop tab as well as other university resources.

3.  Apply for housing and submit your housing deposit, if desired. The housing application and deposit must be received before the end of March to guarantee your spot in the dorm of your choice. After March 31st, housing will be first-come, first-serve. Learn more about our housing options here.

4. Obtain your governmental financial aid pin for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at http://www.pin.ed.gov/

5.  Apply for the FAFSA January and put in Georgia State's code (001574) at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
Always apply, even if you don't think you qualify, as it sets you up for the HOPE scholarship and other opportunities.

6.  Once you've finalized your college plans, submit your Intent to Enroll form [PDF] by fax to 404-413-2002 by June 1. No payment is necessary at that time.

7.  Complete the mandatory Transfer Orientation. A 20-minute online pre-orientation is required for new transfer students before registering for classes.

8.  Sign up for on-campus INCEPT orientation at http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwnsp, if desired.  INCEPT is optional for transfer students, but allows you to register and take care of several steps in one visit.

9. Submit required immunization for MMR, Tetanus/Diphtheria, Varicella and Hepatitis B. Fax the completed immunization form to 404-413-1955 prior to class registration. Visit University Health Services for more details and contact information. If you will be living on campus, you must also obtain the meningitis vaccine or sign an optional waiver with your housing application.

10.  Register for classes in PAWS once you receive a registration appointment. Check for your appointment in the Registration block. Students who need advisement may contact the Student Advisement Center to schedule an appointment for assistance.

11.  Schedule math and/or chemistry placement test, depending upon major.  More information about the math placement test is available here. To determine your testing requirements and to register for test(s), log in to your PAWS account and click on the One Stop Shop tab to select Placement Tests. You are required to obtain your Panther Card ID and present it at the time of your test. Contact the Panther Card Office for details.

12.  Review your financial aid package in PAWS in the Financial Aid block. You must accept/deny aid as needed. Check remaining balance due and pay your bill by the deadline. Contact information for the Financial Aid Office is available here.

13. Plan your transportation and parking. All Georgia State students are allowed to bring vehicles on campus. For more information about parking fees, MARTA and shuttle services, please visit here and for more details, access Auxiliary Services here. Students who wish to park vehicles in the University Commons will inquire through their housing application.

14.  Submit final college transcripts. A final, official transcript for any work in progress at the time of acceptance to Georgia State must be submitted to Admissions prior to the start of the semester.
