\nSteve Harmon\, chair of the Colleg
e of Education’s Learning Technologies Division\, will give a presentation
entitled\, “Theory to Practice: Learning with Technology\,” on Oct. 16 as
part of the Professional Development Wednesdays Speaker Series.
T echnologies can be a great asset to creating effective learning environmen ts\, but they can also be an over-hyped distraction from what really matte rs. This seminar will look at some new and emerging learning technologies with an eye toward helping you determine what to do\, and what not to do t o use them effectively. It will provide a framework of learning and instru ctional theory to help guide your use of technology in your classes.
\nThe speaker series is coordinated by Susan Ogletree through the Educa tional Research Bureau and in collaboration with Joyce Many\, associate de an of undergraduate studies and educator preparation\; Steve Harmon\, chai r of the Learning Technologies Division\; and with input from College of E ducation Interim Dean Paul Alberto and chairs of the College of Education’ s six departments.
\nProfessional Development Wednesdays are held a t 12 noon (unless otherwise noted) in the College of Education Forum\, roo m 1030.
