Postbaccalaureate
Those applicants who have received a bachelor's degree and who wish to take undergraduate courses without being admitted to a degree program are considered postbaccalaureate students.
Please note:
- Postbaccalaureate status is not available in the College of Education. An applicant seeking teacher certification in an area other than art or music must apply as a tranfer student.
- Financial aid is not typically available for postbaccalaureate students.
- Postbaccalaureate students should be prepared to provide a personal copy of a transcript that documents completion of any required prerequisites for Georgia State courses. Students should refer to the Registration Guide for additional information.

Establishing Georgia Residency
For the purpose of establishing Georgia residence for tuition and fee payment, your legal residence is your permanent home. Not only must you live in Georgia, but you must intend to remain indefinitely. The durational requirement for Georgia residence under the Board of Regents' regulation is 12 months before the semester for which you intend to enroll. If you entered Georgia to attend an educational institution, the time in school is not normally counted toward the 12 month residence requirement. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at registrar@gsu.edu.
If you wish to change to a degree-seeking status after attending as a postbaccalaureate student, you must meet the conditions for acceptance as a transfer student and file a Reactivation Form with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions if it within the same academic year or file a new application and application fee if it is not. Official transcripts from all colleges you have attended must also be submitted.
