Special Research Initiatives

The primary goal of the Office of Special Research Initiatives (OSRI) at Georgia State is to facilitate collaboration among investigators and to increase the scale of research initiatives so that Georgia State investigators can effectively address major issues in human health and wellbeing, education, urban living, economic trends, and international business. Our aim is to promote and support inter-disciplinary research partnerships by providing the following:

  • Facilitation in forming new inter-disciplinary research groups;
  • Exploration of potential funding opportunities for inter-disciplinary research groups;
  • Facilitation services at any stage of the research process (e.g. developing strategic plans, developing project or program ideas and plans, etc.)
  • Assistance with developing plans for managing large, multi-institutional research projects/centers;
  • Assistance in set-up of administrative support structures for large research projects/centers;
  • Facilitation of communication within inter-disciplinary research groups.

The Office of Special Research Initiatives is also available to assist in bringing together faculty from various disciplines throughout the university to build partnerships through retreats and similar gatherings. For more information or for assistance with inter-disciplinary research plans or projects involving Georgia State investigators, please contact Kelly Stout, Ph.D., kpowellstout@gsu.edu or 404.413.5475.
