Class of 2012
Hometown and High School: Fayetteville, GA; Whitewater High School
Major/Minor: Film & Video
I chose to attend Georgia State University because of the campus itself, and the location. I knew being in a city capital would have more perks than being in what people call a “college town.” Being downtown, I am given more opportunities due to the wide variety of job occupations that are available in Atlanta. Another positive about going to school in downtown, you always have somewhere or something to do! You never get bored!
Campus Activities and Organizations: Freshman Learning Community (FLC) Ambassador, Circle K, Indoor Soccer Club, Spotlight, Hands on Atlanta
Most Memorable Georgia State experience: Waking up at 7 a.m. with all my FLC classmates and going to do community service at a local YMCA building. When all of us were there in that setting, working to make a better place for kids, we all became better friends. I will never forget that day or the events that took place!
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would be Tony Stark, a.k.a. Ironman. I would be Mr. Stark due to his confidence; he knows he’s the best and doesn’t brag, and doesn’t have a clear weakness like most superheroes. He can build anything or do anything if he sets his mind to it because he’s a genius. He has the coolest house and transportation, and last but not least, he can take down bad guys in his spare time which would be a killer resume builder.
Favorite Georgia State tradition: Rubbing the Panther’s nose for good luck! I wasn’t very superstitious before I came to Georgia State, but I know the two times I have rubbed the bronze panther’s nose before tests, I got surprised a week later with very good test scores! Who wouldn’t want that?
What advice would you give to incoming students? A few things I would say, is 1. Pick a YOU friendly schedule. If you’re not a morning person, don’t take classes in the morning. 2. Do not procrastinate. Trust me, I did in high school and it doesn’t work in college! 3. Get involved! College life is only what you make it to be! 4. Make sure your education is your number one priority; it is why you are here!
After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to direct, produce, or write a summer blockbuster movie. Become famous, then repay everyone who changed my life and made me into the person I am today!
