Actuaries have been called the financial architects and social mathematicians because of their unique blend of analytical and business skills in the insurance and financial services industry, as consultants in firms that specialize in employee benefits and pensions in the government sector and in a variety of other roles.

Students may choose to attend a summer term to reduce their load during fall or spring semesters but still stay on track to graduate in four years.

Freshman Year

Freshman Milestones:

• Complete all Area A requirements
• Attend the major fair and declare a major

Notes:

A higher math course is required for this major. Not recommended that students take Math 1101, since that is not a prerequisite for higher math courses. Students are encouraged to start with Math 1111, Math 1113 or higher.
