School of Music Sings In The Holidays

The Georgia State University School of Music brought “A Night in Old Vienna” to the Rialto Center for the Arts with its 11th annual Gala Holiday Concert.
Taking a cue from Johan Strauss’ well-known operetta “Die Fledermaus,” more than 200 students and faculty members in the University Symphony Orchestra, Choral, Opera Theatre, Jazz, Brass and Percussion Ensembles served as “guest” musicians at a masked ball set in the Viennese palace of Prince Orlofsky. School of Music director W. Dwight Coleman served as artistic director of the concert, which included classical and seasonal selections by Tchaikovsky, Handel, Vivaldi and Strauss.
