I chose to attend Georgia State University because of its perfect location. As a student, it is almost impossible for you not to know what is going on because you are right in the heart of the city. I was born and raised in the suburbs, and I did not know a thing about the city of Atlanta until I enrolled. The diversity that is also offered at Georgia State was another attractive feature that tickled my fancy. After successfully completing two years, I absolutely love it…Go Panthers!
Campus Activities and Organizations: 2008 Inceptor, Big Brothers Big Sisters, 2008-2009 Senator for J. Mack Robinson College of Business, and Welcome Center Tour Guide.
Most memorable Georgia State experience: Just recently, I participated in the Miss Phi Beta Sigma Pageant. I had a blast! It gave me an opportunity to meet some wonderful people as well as be crowned the title of Miss Pi Alpha (first runner-up). The whole experience was memorable, and it will always be one of my fondest memories at Georgia State.
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? Dora the Explorer... she is so adorable! Dora is always on a mission, and the mission is guaranteed to be completed by the end of the episode-which reminds me a lot of myself. Even though Dora is well within her youth, she still has a great outlook on life and an outstanding level of optimism that can be admired by many.
Favorite Georgia State tradition: My favorite Georgia State tradition is rubbing Pounce statue’s nose in Unity Plaza to wish students good luck throughout the school year or even on an exam. In order for Pounce to fully guarantee success, the student must possess undeniable Georgia State spirit.
What advice would you give to incoming students? As soon as you step foot on campus...get involved! There are so many opportunities and interesting people here that are waiting to see what you can offer this institution. Being involved is also a better way for students to connect to the university as well as learn some important skills that are not necessarily taught in the classroom.
After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to be a successful financial advisor helping my clients budget their money wisely and effectively. I want to continue being helpful and resourceful while providing the best service possible.
