I chose to attend Georgia State University because there is so much here in Atlanta! In my old town there were not as many internship opportunities but Georgia State’s campus is spread out among a growing area. I am a very visual person, so to be able to go to class and see the city moving all around me really makes me excited to have a degree and one day be in the real world mix.
Campus Activities and Organizations: Intercultural Relations Peer Educator, Georgia State Debate Team, 2008 Inceptor, Homecoming 2008 Miss Building A (University Commons representative)
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would definitely be Cinderella! She is a character with a good heart; she keeps things clean, and has a fairy godmother that doubles as a personal stylist. I like that she has lots of reasons to be upset about life but is always positive. Not to mention in her story, being a selfless person comes with a happy ending, and that is why I continue to stay looking at the bright side everyday, even when school work seems to be a little stressful. My happy ending will be graduation!
Favorite Georgia State Tradition: I really love the tradition in Unity Plaza that is to rub the statue of the panther's nose for good luck. You can see his nose changing colors from all the luck he gave Georgia State students so far!
What advice would you give to incoming students? I know this sounds simple, but it is so important: prioritize! There is so much to do on campus and it can be distracting if someone wants to do everything. The key is to always remember school comes first and to get involved gradually. Every organization has a grade requirement, so always study first and play after!
After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to... oh, I have to leave Georgia State one day? That's too bad, I love it here! I know I will be prepared for the real world since faculty have been training me so well. I also feel that I can work with any type of person because I have interacted with so many different people here. I hope to pursue a career in public relations in New York, where I am from.
