Class of: 2008
Hometown and High School: Jonesboro, GA; Morrow High School
Major/Minor: Business Management and Finance
I chose to attend Georgia State University because Georgia State has an awesome Business School, one of the top ten in the nation. Also it is one of the most diverse Universities in the state of Georgia. Last but not least, it was not too close to home, but still close to home.
Campus Activities and Organizations: 1913 Society (University Ambassadors), Intercultural Ambassador – Peer Educator, Vietnamese Student Association, Delta Phi Lambda Sorority Incorporated (Asian Interest Sorority), VISA Leader (International Student Orientation Leader)
Most memorable Georgia State experience: Being an Inceptor (orientation leader) in 2004 and Associate Director the following year for the Incept Team; we networked with various administrators, staff, and faculty of the university. We also met and assisted numerous new students attending Georgia State. The most memorable of them all is the Georgia State University Incept Team taking home the Spirit award after attending the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop at Clemson University in 2005.
If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be and why? I would be Garfield, because he is a cool and calm cat. I’m usually very calm and at ease. Garfield is also very mysterious and really funny.
Favorite Georgia State tradition: Welcome Week. This week takes place during the first week of fall semester. During this week, various activities take place. We have events, tables, free stuff just to assist students and an opportunity to welcome new and former students back to campus for another educational and fun year.
What advice would you give to incoming students? Get involved, make new friends, and stay concentrated and motivated to accomplishing your goals.
After I graduate from Georgia State, I hope to attend graduate school for Higher Education and also get a job or an internship.
