University Celebrates Its First Founders’ Day
Cake, punch, music and a trivia game focused on Georgia State history will be among the highlights of the university’s first Founders’ Day celebration on Thursday, Sept. 12.
The event, part of the university’s Centennial celebration, will run from 12:15 p.m.-1:45 p.m. at Unity Plaza, next to the Student Center.
Speakers will include Student Alumni Association President Nicholas Feathers.
The celebration will focus on Georgia State’s past, present and future and include a giant birthday card students can sign to mark the school’s 100th anniversary. The area devoted to the present will feature a commemorative gift. Students who visit the area dedicated to the future will be invited to donate spare change for the alumni scholarship fund.
The precise date of Georgia State’s founding is unclear, but President Mark Becker has set the second Thursday of every September to remember the historic event.
The celebration is free and open to all Georgia State students, faculty and staff.
