Configuring your Netscape Browser(Windows)

  1. Sun Java 1.5_05 must be installed on your computer for WebCT to work. Click here for Sun Java installation instructions.
    Depending upon your connection speed, this should only take a few minutes.
  2. Open the Netscape browser.
  3. At the top of the browser, click Edit.
  4. Select Preferences.
  5. Click the arrow (triangle) to the left of Privacy & Security.
  6. Select Cookies.
  7. Select Enable cookies based on privacy settings.
  8. Click the View button.
  9. Under Level of Privacy, select medium.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Under Privacy & Security, select Popup Windows.
  12. If Block unrequested popup windows is selected, click Allowed Sites button.
  13. In the space at the top, enter gsu.view.usg.edu
  14. Click the Add button.
  15. Click OK.
  16. Click Advanced.
  17. Select Enable Java.
  18. Click the arrow (triangle) to the left of Advanced.
  19. Select Scripts & Plugins.
  20. Check Navigator.
  21. Under Advanced, select Cache.
  22. Select Every time I view the page.
  23. Click OK.
  24. Check to see if you have Microsoft Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed by clicking here
  25. After making all of the above changes, close Netscape and re-open it. The changes will now take effect.
