Richard Heller

Executive Director of Student•University Center

Richard Heller received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s University, a Master of Arts from Incarnate Word and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Heller has worked for the Student*University Center since January 1996. He manages and provides leadership for the Student and University Centers including budget management, staff supervision, policy formation, and event management for a 200,000 square foot facility that has on average 20,000 users daily. Dr. Heller serves as a liaison with Auxiliary Services and retail tenants. Additionally, he markets the facility and services to the campus and local community.


Carole Golder

Associate Director for Programs and Services

Carole Golder received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware and a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina. She holds a certificate in Campus Program Management from the National Association for Campus Activities. Ms. Golder has worked for the Student*University Center since August 2000. She supervises the conference and customer service programs for the University and Student Centers, including the reservation process, conference marketing, event management, student desk staff training and information desk functions which includes $80,000 in annual sales. Ms. Golder is responsible for ensuring quality event supervision and user services, as well as, to contributing to the accomplishment of the goals of the Student*University Center and the mission of the University.

Tim Hogan

Associate Director for Building Administration

Tim Hogan received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University and a Master of Higher Education degree from Ohio University. Mr. Hogan has worked for the Student*University Center since November, 2007. He is responsible for the daily operations and facility management for the Student*University Center. He manages the maintenance, custodial services, security, and building renovation areas for the Center. Additionally, Mr. Hogan is responsible for ensuring quality event support, including room set-ups, audio visual support, and building management. Mr. Hogan also provides support to tenants and contributes to the accomplishment of the overall goals of the Student*University Center.

Tari Wimbley

Assistant Director for Programs

Mrs. Wimbley received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge and a Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University. She has worked for the Student*University Center since July 2007. She advises the Spotlight Programs Board, supervises the Cinefest Film Theatre, and coordinates the annual Miss Georgia State University Scholarship Pageant.  

DeLea Kearse

Business Manager

DeLea Kearse received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Joseph's College in Indiana.  In August 2000, she began working at the Student*University Center, a complex financial organization made up of approximately 45 full time staff, 145 part time / student staff, and 15 para-professionals.  The Student*University Center receives support from multiple sources with an annual budget that exceeds $5 million.  Mrs. Kearse is responsible for administering the financial management processes and coordinating the accounting procedures for the Student*University Center and its units, which includes Campus Events, Spotlight Programs Board, and Student Life and Leadership.  She also ensures compliance with all personnel and business practices, manages the internal accounting system for the Student*University Center, and develops the business procedures for the Student*University Center.

Traci Goins

Human Resource Coordinator

Traci Goins received a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University and a Master of Public Administration with a focus on HR Management from Troy University. She holds various certifications in supervision, conflict management and customer service. Mrs. Goins has worked for the University since 2002, but has worked for the Student*University Center since November 2008. She coordinates staff training and development, assists with staff recognition programs, and provides HR support and assistance for supervisors. Mrs. Goins is responsible for disseminating internal staff communication and assisting the Executive Director and Managers with special projects and annual reports as to support the Mission and Goals of the Department, the Division and the University.

Ramona Rollins

Accountant

Ms. Rollins received a Bachelor of Business Administration concentrating in Accounting from Georgia State University. In November 2005, she began working at the Student*University Center as an Accounting Assistant while finishing her degree.  Beginning July 2008, Ms. Rollins began full time as an Accountant to assist the Business Manager in a multitude of fiscal tasks related to the Student*University Center and its units, which includes Campus Events, Spotlight Programs Board and Student Life and Leadership. Specifically, she internally coordinates the procurement card program and aids in its compliance. She assists with ensuring efficient and effective internal controls through monthly reconciliations and reviews of revenue, expenses, and payroll for the Student*University Center and its units.

Jamie Ayres

Public Relations Coordinator

Jamie Ayres received her Bachelor of Science in Communications from Kennesaw State University with a focus in Mass Media. Ms. Ayres has worked for the Student*University Center since August 2008. She assists staff in assessing program successes and customer satisfaction, designs and develops comprehensive marketing and communication plans to support the various programs and coordinates all department publications and materials in University catalogs. Ms. Ayres also coordinates with the efforts of the entire Student*University staff to meet the mission and goals of the Student*University Center as well as the University.

Cara Dawn Byford

Campus Events Advisor

Ms. Byford received a Bachelor of Science in Professional Geography from University of North Alabama and a Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Student Personnel from Jacksonville State University. Ms. Byford has worked for the Student*University Center since August 2008.  She serves as the advisor to the Campus Events Council, which brings high profile speakers, music, and performing arts to Georgia State University.

Chinara "CC" Thomas

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Thomas graduated from Georgia State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She currently assists the Assistant Director for Programs with Spotlight Programs Board and other projects as assigned. She has been working with the Student*University Center since October 2007.

Monica Graham

Administrative Assistant

Monica Graham has over 18 years of experience in administrative and management roles. She began working for the Student*University Center in January 2008. Monica has received professional training in the areas of business administration, computer information systems, and customer service.  Mrs. Graham is responsible for overseeing and managing the Operations Support Front Office. She assists in coordinating administrative tasks and daily activities for the Student*University Center under the guidance of the Student Center Associate Director. She also maintains department records, files and databases, as well as scheduling equipment maintenance, and tracking work order progress and completion status.

Lesia Chandler

Administrative Specialist - Administrative

Lesia Chandler has over 20 years of experience in administrative roles. She began working for the Student*University Center in June 2003. She has received professional training in customer service, business writing, various computer programs and management skills. Mrs. Chandler is responsible for overseeing and managing the Administrative Front Office. She assists in coordinating administrative tasks and daily activities for the Student*University Center under the guidance of the Student Center Director, Associate and Assistant Directors. She also maintains department records, files and databases, plans special events as well as scheduling and coordinating meetings. Mrs. Chandler supervises the student employees in the Administrative Office and oversees the locker rental process at the beginning of each semester. She is responsible for processing all personnel activities, including all new hire orientation, student payroll, maintaining adequate supply inventory, scheduling equipment maintenance, and tracking work order progress and completion status. In addition to these duties, she often assists Managers with various special projects.

Anthony Banks

Program Coordinator

Anthony Banks received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Georgia State University. Mr. Banks has worked for the Student/University Center since July 2001. Previously, he worked as a staff member with Continuing Education. Mr. Banks assists in coordinating facility reservations, specifically providing client support for the campus spaces reserved by the Student/University Center including Urban Life West Exhibit Areas, Urban Life Plaza, Library Plaza, Unity Plaza, General Classroom Plaza (solicitors), Hurt Park and banner space. He manages the University Solicitation Policy for vendor requests and also coordinates data/voice connections related to special projects in the Student/University Center.

Rhonda Counsel-Carey

Facilities Coordinator

Rhonda Counsel received a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University. She has worked for the Student*University Center since Spring Semester 2006. She came to Atlanta from Tucson, Arizona where she spent most of her professional career as an event planner and manager.  Ms. Counsel is the operations manager for the Student Center and works with the event services team overseeing the successful set up and management of the Center’s events and the day-to-day flow of services for patrons of the center.

Nicholas Moore

Media Supervisor

Nicholas Moore received a specialized degree in the Recording Arts from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. Mr. Moore has worked for Georgia State University since November 2005.  At the Student*University Center, Mr. Moore is responsible for providing client technical support for the day-to-day operations of all media enhanced events. He manages his university and client responsibilities while training and supervising a team of staff and student assistants.  Mr. Moore serves on the GSU commencement board as the audio visual consultant, providing for the advanced technical needs of the ceremony from start to finish. He also serves as the staff advisor for the GSU Ultimate Frisbee Club. Mr. Moore is committed to serving the needs of the GSU faculty, staff, and students as well as the university's diverse community clients.

Tommy Young

Set-Up Supervisor

Tommy Young began working for the Student*University Center in November 1981. He has received training in parque finishing and has been an ace floor tech. His dedication to the Student*University Center was acknowledged by the creation of an award in his honor, given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment and dedication to furthering the mission of the Student*University Center. Mr. Young oversees the set-up of all Student*University Center event space by assessing daily meeting room set-up schedules, coordinating and assigning tasks among the Student Set-Up Crew, Building Managers, and custodial staff in twenty meeting and event spaces, including the ballroom. He is responsible for coordinating a comprehensive floor care schedule; managing an equipment inventory and coordinating event set-up work with the audio-visual, catering and maintenance staffs.

 

Building Maintenance

The Building Maintenance staff performs advanced level duties in installation, maintenance, repair and renovation tasks related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other building trades work. They conduct inspections on buildings, fixtures, machines, equipment, systems and other structural units regularly and perform preventative maintenance when necessary.

 

Steven Watts

Skilled Trades Worker

Steven Watts has certification in Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Mr. Watts began working in the Student*University Center in January 2001.

Joe Breitbach

Skilled Trades Worker

Joe Breitbach began working in the Student*University Center in April 2003. He possesses expertise in a number of maintenance areas, including: carpentry, plumbing, drywall, flooring, and heating-ventilation-and-air conditioning.

Robert "Bob" Crowder

Custodial Superintendent

Robert Crowder received a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida.  He has worked for the Student*University Center since October, 2008.  Mr. Crowder oversees and manages the day-to-day operation of the custodial division by conducting quality assurance inspections to insure a high standard of service.  Mr. Crowder is committed to the efforts of the Student*University Center while improving and maintaining a responsibility to providing exceptional custodial services.

 

Custodial Staff Day Shift

The day shift Custodial Staff is responsible for performing custodial care for the interior and immediate exterior areas of the University and Student Centers through a comprehensive cleaning schedule designed to achieve high standards of cleanliness and safety. They maintain the common area of the buildings, clean all offices, pressure wash the loading dock areas and assist other staff members with seminars, meetings and all business activity in the building.

 

Henry "Hank" Robinson

Custodian III

Henry Robinson received his Associate of the Arts from Friendship College.  He is also certified by the Internal Executive Housekeeping Association Inc.  Mr. Robinson began working for the Student*University Center in May 2003 and supervises the day staff and is responsible for maintaining the first floor of the Student Center.

Thetis Lloyd

Custodian III

Mr. Lloyd began working for the Student*University Center in July, 1997.  Mr. Lloyd is a certified Floor Technician.

Denise Shaw

Custodian II

Ms. Shaw began working for the Student*University Center in July 1987. She is responsible for the third floor of the University Center and the Pete’s Arena in the Bookstore Building.

Mary Carr

Custodian II

Ms. Carr began work for the Student-University Center in January 1999 and was promoted to Custodian II July 2005. Ms. Carr is responsible for the 2nd floor Student Center.

Kenroy Prentice

Custodian I

Mr. Prentice begain working for the Student*University Center in June 2007 and is a certified Floor Technician in the University Center.

Cenena McMillian

Custodian I

Ms. McMillian began working for the Student*University Center in January 2008, she is responsible for maintaining the University Center.

Angela Simmons

Custodian I

Ms. Simmons began working for the Student*University Center in August 2005, she is responsible for maintaining the University Center.

Rita Bennett

Custodian I

Ms. Bennett began working for the Student*University Center in October 1993. She is responsible for the fourth floor of the University Center.

Morris Floyd

Custodian I

Mr. Floyd began working at the Student*University Center in August 2002. He is responsible for the 3rd floor Student Center.

 

Custodial Staff Evening Shift

The Evening Shift maintains the common area of the buildings, clean all offices, pressure wash the loading dock areas and assist other staff members with seminars, meetings and all business activity in the building. These individuals are also responsible for maintaining the cleaning schedule for the Student*University Center carpets and windows.

 

Reginald Wilder

Custodian II

Mr. Wilder began working for the Student*University Center in September 1996. He is responsible for maintaining the common areas of the University Center during the evening shift.

 

Custodial Staff Night Shift

The responsibilities of the Night Shift are to maintain the floors in throughout the building, the restrooms and to assist with the carpet cleaning as needed.

 

Jeff Shack

Custodian II

Mr. Shack began working for the Student*University Center July 2001 and was promoted to Custodian II July 2005. He is responsible for Floor Care of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Student Center on the night Shift.

Telesa Smith

Custodian II

Ms. Smith began working for the Student*University in January 2004. She is responsible for maintaining the Student*University Center common areas on the second shift.

Judy Bigby

Custodian I

Mrs. Bigby began working for the Student*University Center in July 2005. She is responsible for maintaining the 2nd floor of the University Center, including the Bookstore Building.
