Meet the Firms
|
Meet the firms brings major employers of accounting graduates together with GSU Accounting majors.
Interested in internship opportunities? Permanent positions? This is the one
event you do not want to miss. This is the third meet the firms event, and the event has
grown each year. Here are some tips for getting the most out of meet the firms.
- Wear Professional Dress.
You should treat meeting the firms
as an interview, and dress accordingly.
- Bring a resume.
If you do not have a resume, get one!
And make sure that you have it reviewed by several people. Your professor might
reveiw your resume if you ask. Swap resumes with a friend. And above all, take
advantage of the resume critiques offered by the career services office on campus on Tuesdays
10-11am & Wednesdays 3:30-4:30pm. For more infomation click
here.
- Do some research.
The list of employers participating
in Meet the Firms is shown to the left. Go to their web sites and look around.
Learn as much as you can about who they are and what they do. Attend the orientation.
Take notes on note cards and bring them to meet the firms. Review the cards
just before visiting a table.
- Know what you want.
Audit? Tax? An internship?
A permanent position? The more you know about what you want, the more productive
your time will be, and the better you will come across.
- Have questions.
You are not expected to have all
the answers! That is why we have Meet the Firms. This is a great chance
for you to find out about different career opportunities with different employers.
